YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Neil Kennedy Recovery Clinic has been in Youngstown for more than 70 years servicing those who struggle with addiction.
“We’ve seen the issue of addiction change in many ways. I don’t know that in my lifetime, I’ve been in this business for 28 years, I don’t know that in my career, I’ve seen it as bad as it is right now,” said Carolyn Givens, executive director of Neil Kennedy Recovery Centers.
Givens says the rise in opioids and heroin use has led to more people struggling with addiction.
The center has several locations that each serve different purposes. There is a detox center at Mercy Health, a residential center in Youngstown, an outpatient location in Austintown as well as recovery homes in Youngstown.
“When people come to Neil Kennedy, they’re able to not only get the care they need, they get the steps that’s going to keep them into a pathway of recovery,” she said.
Neil Kennedy works directly with doctors to help the body through recovering addiction.
“By the time they’re ready to leave detox, they are working with a clinical team of people, that are once again evaluating where they are and what they need,” she said.
The treatment is not limited to medical care, meditation and religious services are also encouraged and made available.
The program is available to people 18 and over. Medical insurance is accepted and for those who don’t have insurance, the staff will work to try and assist them to get it.
