Verlena Mae Norman, 69, of 2565 Niles Vienna Road, Niles, Ohio, departed this life Sunday, March 31, 2019, at 9:17 a.m., at Autumn Hills Nursing Home, following an extended illness.
She was born August 15, 1949, in Warren, Ohio, the daughter of Joseph Ernest and Esther Mae Williams Norman.
Mrs. Norman was employed at the Northside Medical Center for 20 years as a unit secretary, before retiring. After retirement, she worked for Walmart and Comfort Keepers.
She was a 1969 graduate of South High School.
She was a member of St. John’s Ministries Church of God in Christ, where she was an usher, sang in the choir and enjoyed reading, puzzles and animals.
She leaves to mourn one brother, Officer Robert Trimble of Warren; three sisters, Ms. Brenda Perry of Warren, Ms. Rita Norman of Youngstown and Ms. Betty Kalembo of Atlanta, Georgia; caregivers, Mrs. Linda Marie (Pastor Robert) Herron of Warren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Arden Norman.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 5, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., at the St. John’s Ministries Church of God in Christ.
Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the service, 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church on Friday, April 5.
Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.
Arrangements of comfort were handled by the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home.
