Shirley M. Daniels Marple, 82, of Salem, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 12, 2019.

She was born April 4, 1936 in Kirksville, Missouri, the daughter of the late Joseph and Ida Mae (Harden) McGrath.

Her husband, Norman E. Daniels, whom she married June 25, 1954, preceded her in death November 26, 1985. Her second husband, Fred Marple, whom she married October 27, 2009, also preceded her in death March 1, 2016.

Survivors include her three daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte Kay (Glenn) Parker of Hope Mills, North Carolina, Norma Byrdette (Frederick) Baker of Salem, Ohio and Rebekah Suzanne Daniels of Hope Mills, North Carolina; three loving grandchildren that were always the joy and delight of her life, Kimberly Baker (Ethan) Nicholas, Danielle Baker and Thomas (Macy) Baker and her great-granddaughter, Annie Baker-O’Donnell.

The family had lived in Joilet, Illinois where Shirley had worked for Western Electric. After moving to Ohio in 1970, Shirley was employed at the former Warren Molded Plastics and Geltech.

In the early 1970’s Shirley and Norman were foster parents to five foster children.

While residing in Salem for 49 years, Shirley was a member of Salem Realife Church, where she was active in various ministries. She was a former leader of the Girls Missionette’s Program, a Sunday School teacher; as well as, being instrumental in starting up the Senior Saints Meals. For several years, Shirley provided Bible lessons for the residents of Hutton’s Nursing Home on Sunday mornings.

Shirley was an excellent cook and enjoyed sewing in her younger years.

Shirley will also be remembered for passing out a card with her favorite Bible verse: For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Stark Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Pastor Robert Rowley officiating.

Calling hours will be held from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 16 at the funeral home prior to the service.

Burial will be at Highland Memorial in Beloit.
