SALEM, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – David W. Halverstadt, 70, of Salem, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.

Survivors include his children, Brad, Matthew, Thomas, Katie, Molly and Daniel. He is also survived by his brother, Don, as well as many grandchildren and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernice and Richard Halverstadt; his brother, Randy in 2021 and his daughter, Rachel in 2020.

A private memorial service was held with immediate family as they gathered in Ohio to reminisce and support one another during this difficult time. There will also be a public funeral on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Stark Memorial Funeral Home in Salem at 2:00 p.m.

Dave attended Marlington High School and graduated in 1971. He was on the football and wrestling teams during his high school years and attended Hiram college on a football scholarship.

He worked as a meat cutter in Salem until he began a 30-year career as a UPS driver in 1983.

He was also a Boy Scout leader, as well as attending the Stark County Fair every year when the family was involved in 4-H. Genealogy was a lifelong hobby as he loved learning about the history of his family. Classic cars were his passion and he spent many years attending car shows and searching for car parts, as well as buying and selling classic cars.

Dave attended most of his high school reunions and liked to visit with his friends there. Over the past several years, Dave’s health had declined and he will be missed by his family and friends.
