LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Richard M. Lohr, Jr., 60, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, May 3, 2019, at his residence, following a short illness. 

He was born in Warren, Ohio on April 4, 1959, a son of Richard M. and E. Laverne (Binion) Lohr, Sr. 

Rick was in the first graduating class of the new Lordstown High School in 1977 and furthered his education at the University of Georgia and graduated from Ohio University with Bachelor of Science Degrees in Journalism, Marketing and Advertising.

Rick was the owner, financial advisor, insurance broker and insurance agent of Lohr Insurance Services in Hubbard, representing Nationwide Insurance. He was the recipient of several achievement and leadership awards from Nationwide Insurance. The firm was recently merged with the Platt Insurance Group.

He was a member of the Lordstown and McDonald Lions Club and was honored to receive the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellowship from the Lions Club International along with many leadership awards. He also was a member of the Vienna Fish and Game Club and a lifetime member of the NRA.

He loved working on cars, attending car shows and traveling to NASCAR Races. He was an avid Richard Petty fan. While growing up, he built, worked on and traveled to race his drag racing cars. Later in life, he loved racing his radio control cars and became a member of HCOT where he won many championships. For many years, he proudly sponsored a Trumbull County Adaptive Baseball League Team. 

Rick is survived by his wife, Rebecca “Becky” (Johnson) Lohr, whom he married on June 27, 1981; son, Richard M. (Nichole) Lohr III of Girard; daughter, Shana Lohr and Ray Sneed of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; father, Richard M. “Dick” Lohr, Sr. of Lordstown and brother-in-law, Charles S. “Chuck” Johnson of Niles. 

He was preceded in death by his mother who died on December 29, 2018. 

Calling hours will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 9 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, Niles.

The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 10 at the funeral home where family and friends may also call one hour prior to the service, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Burial will be in Lordstown Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Trumbull County Adaptive Baseball c/o Judy Radachy, 7928 Second Street, Masury, OH 44438.
