Paul J. Hripko, 94, passed away peacefully late Tuesday afternoon, January 15, 2019, at Omni Manor with family by his side.

Paul was born July 12, 1924, in Youngstown, a son of the late Martin and Mary Martinko Hripko and lived his life in this area.

He attended Chaney High School, was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps and proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from 1943 until the end of 1945.

Paul worked as an electrician for McKenzie Muffler for 32 years, until the company closed in 1975 and then he worked as an electrician for General Motors at the Lordstown Plant for 13 years, retiring in 1990.

Mr. Hripko was a member of St. Christine Church in Youngstown and also belonged to the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Union Lodge No. 169.

Paul enjoyed being a “Mr. Fix-it”, enjoyed yardwork and he loved spending time with his family.

Paul leaves his wife of 68 years, Wilma Voitus Hripko, whom he married May 13, 1950; a son, Lawrence (Sandra) Hripko of Canfield; a daughter, Jeri Hripko of Louisville, Ohio; two grandchildren, Gretchen (Seth) Winner and Matthew Spencer; a great-granddaughter, Sydney Winner and a brother, Frank “Chief” Hripko of Youngstown.

An infant daughter, Susan Ellen Hripko, passed away in 1959; seven brothers, Martin, Joseph, John, George, Stephen, Andrew and infant, Stephen Hripko and three sisters, Mary Fabry, Catherine DeCenso and Helen Friedman, are also deceased.

Family and friends may call from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 22, at St. Christine Church on South Schenley Avenue in Youngstown, where a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m.
