YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – A homegoing celebration in honor of Mrs. Mary B. “Coot” Sadler will be held Saturday, May 11, at 12:00 Noon at Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, for Mrs. Sadler, who passed away Monday, May 6, 2019, at Mercy Health Hospital.

Mrs. Sadler was born September 7, 1934, in Youngstown, a daughter of Walter T. Heard, Sr. and Lucille Nixon.

She was a graduate of South High School and was formerly employed with St. Elizabeth Hospital. 

She was the proud owner and operator of the Candle Light Daycare.

She was a member of Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the nurse’s guild.

She leaves to cherish her beloved memory her children, Raymond Sadler and Carla O. Sadler with whom she made her home, both of Youngstown; her brothers,  Forest James Nance of Newark, New Jersey, LaFay Walden, J. Dwayne (Shahara) Heard, including Victor Nixon, whom she helped to rear; 16 grandchildren, including Dominique Sadler, her caregiver, Ramone, Emmett III, Tammy and Raymond Sadler, whom she reared; 40 great-grandchildren including Dominick Sadler, whom she reared; six great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Lucille Nixon, Walter T., Sr. and Johnnie Mae Heard; her husband, Emmett, Jr. whom she married March 13, 1956; her sons, Emmett III and Darrell M. Sadler; her stepdaughter, Darrolyn Bell; her sisters, Twelvena Scott and Shirley Jones; her brothers, Walter T. Heard, Jr. and Jessie Nixon and her grandsons, Juan Bell and DeShawn Johnson.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 10 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at J. E. Washington Funeral Home and on Saturday, May 11, 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon at Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church prior to the service.

A television tribute will air Friday, May 10 at the following approximate times: 12:25 p.m. WKBN, 6:58 p.m. on MyYTV and 10:37 p.m. FOX plus two additional spots throughout the day.
