YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, at L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home for Mr. Larry S. Jones who transcended to his Heavenly Home on Tuesday, May 7, 2019.
Mr. Jones was born June 12, in Atlanta, Georgia, a son of Robert “Bob”, Jr. and Eunice Pyron Jones. He came to Youngstown, Ohio with his parents in 1947.
Larry was a former member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Larry graduated from The Rayen School in 1962.
He enlisted in the United States Navy and served four years in and out of Vietnam.
He worked at the Ohio Leather Company in Girard, Ohio for many years. He was later employed by General Motors and retired after 30 years of service and was a member of Local 1112.
He loved to read and travel and anyone who knew him knew he loved to talk about sports and politics.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, two sisters, Mrs. Carolyn A. (Jesse L., Sr.) Harris and Mrs. Arlena (Rev. Nathaniel) Lofton all of Youngstown and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Robert “Bob” Jones III, William “Pep” Jones and George “Spider” Jones and a friend who was like a brother to him, John Carter.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 15.
Interment will be at Tod Homestead Cemetery.
A television tribute will air Monday, May 13 at the following approximate times: 6:41 a.m. WYTV and 8:41 a.m. MyYTV and 9:58 a.m. on FOX plus two additional spots throughout the day.
