Kathleen Mary Hooper, 75, of Colebrook Township, Orwell, Ohio, passed away Monday, December 17, 2018, at UH Geauga Medical Center emergency room, Chardon, Ohio.
She was born June 23, 1943, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Merritt and Mary N. Serdula Smith.
Kathleen was a 1961 graduate of Mentor High School and a 1964 graduate of the Lutheran School of Nursing of Cleveland.
She retired from Northside Hospital of Youngstown, where she worked as a nurse in Emergency Room Pediatric. She also worked for Windsor Nursing Home, Lake West and UH Andover.
Kathleen was a active member of the Rock of Grace Church of Kinsman, where she taught Sunday school.
She enjoyed riding and showing quarter horses, fishing, camping, gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, singing and she loved SweeTARTS. She supported St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the Salvation Army.
She is survived by her husband, Gary, whom she married on September 18, 1970, a son, John C. (Sarah Taylor) Hooper of Bazetta Township; a daughter, Laura E. (Dave Stevens) Klingensmith of Colebrook Township; three grandsons, Orion, Aiden and Cameron; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Ziburis of North Royalton, Ohio; one niece and two nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 29 at 11:00 a.m., at the Rock of Grace Church in Kinsman.
Family and friends may call from 9:00 a.m. till time of the service on Saturday, December 29 at the church.
Memorial donations may be made to the family towards funeral expenses.
