SHARPSVILLE, Pennsylvania (MyValleyTributes) – William “Bill” Reffner, Sr., 87 of Sharpsville, passed away at 11:15 p.m. on Monday. February 22, 2021, at The Collins House in Franklin, Pennsylvania, after an extended illness.
Bill was born on September 18, 1933, in Glasgow, Pennsylvania, to the late Anna (Simmens) and Arden I. Reffner.
Bill worked for Sawhill Tubular Division of Armco in Sharon, as a crane operator for 44 years, retiring January 14, 1996.
He served in the Army.
He enjoyed hunting, casino trips, watching NASCAR, gardening and spending time with his family.
Bill was a member of the Greenville Coin Club.
He is survived by son, William L. Reffner, Jr. and his wife, Tina, of Sharon; sister, Barb Kruis of Clearfield; grandsons, Scott Reffner and his wife, Corrin, of Clarion, Pennsylvania and Ehren Reffner of Sharpsville and great-granddaughters, Layna and Livia Reffner.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Jane (Lazor) Reffner, whom he married May 15, 1954 and who passed away Janaury 11, 2020; a son, Brian E. Reffner and two brothers, Clayton and Eugene Reffner.
Visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 1 at John Flynn Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2630 E. State Street, Hermitage. A memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. C. Charles Eckles officiating.
Burial will be in America’s Cemetery.
