HERMITAGE, Pennsylvania (MyValleyTributes) – Madie Rogers, 97, of Sharon, passed away from natural causes on August 5, 2020 in her residence.
Born in Mobile, Alabama, on Oct. 20, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Louise (Carson) and Genie Peagler Sr.
Madie graduated from Farrell High School.
She was employed at The Arc of Mercer County (MCAR) as a supervisor for over 30 years.
She was a member of the Ruth A.M.E. Zion Church, which she attended over 60 years and was a member of the choir.
Madie was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed going to the senior center in Hermitage and the Salvation Army. She enjoyed reading her Bible, singing, volunteering, crocheting and talking with her friends and family.
She is survived by daughters, Ramona Peagler, of Sharon, Dorene Peagler, of Sharon and Sandra Peagler-Smith and her husband Mark, of Youngstown; brother, Vincent Peagler Sr., of Sharon; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Novie Lee Rogers, whom she married October 25, 1954 and who passed away August 9, 1962; a daughter, LouAnn Mayes; and several sisters and brothers.
Service: her family will have a homegoing celebration at a later date.
