MASURY, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Linda D. Goodridge, 72, of Masury, passed away in the ER of Sharon Regional on Thursday evening, August 26, 2021.

Linda was born on February 27, 1949, in Sharon, the daughter of the late Walter Deason and the late Helen (Zieminick) Deason. The late James W. Kagarise later became her stepfather.

A 1966 graduate of Brookfield High School, Linda also received her BA from YSU in 1971, majoring in Communications with a minor in Elementary Education.

She was one of the first female newscasters in Youngstown, starting at WNIO where she met her future husband, Jeff. They would have celebrated their 48th anniversary on October 20. The couple have one daughter, Carrie Anne Goodridge, who lives with her partner, Ann Livingston, in Sarasota, Florida.

Linda was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Sharon, working with latchkey children in the after school program they sponsored for many years and occasionally in the nursery. She was also a Deacon.

Her life career went full circle when Linda became a substitute teacher for Brookfield and Trumbull County schools. Teaching was her original intent before the broadcast ‘bug’ bit and she spent well over ten years doing so. Linda was fluent in sign language, so she worked a lot with the hearing impaired, which brought her great joy.

Besides her passion for family and cooking, Linda also loved to create homemade greeting cards. She would spend hours on end doing so, always trying to learn the latest techniques. Many of those are still treasured, especially now.

Survivors include her husband and daughter; sisters-in-law, Patricia Queer (Richard) of Tallmadge and Barbara Dunlevy of Akron; brother-in-law, Michael Goodridge (Nan Dishmon) of Cuyahoga Falls; sister-in-law, Janice Korsgaard (Peter) of Masury; cousins, Devenna Cole of Masury, Kathy Lealy of Hermitage and Ronald (Patricia) Speck of Charlotte; many other cousins, nieces and nephews too, along with close family friends of nearly 50 years, Charles Hague of Richmond, Virginia and Tim and Barb Trombitas of Apopka, Florida.

The family would like to express its gratitude to the staff of O’Brien Memorial, Masury, for the outstanding care and love they gave to Linda this past year. Thank you also to the ER team at Sharon Regional for the kindness and compassion they showed to us when we needed it most.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Sharon, 600 East State Street. Pending Covid restrictions, a luncheon will be held right after the service.

The family is also encouraging tribute contributions to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at
