HERMITAGE, Pennsylvania (MyValleyTributes) – Judy Bottenfield, 80, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio.
She was born on October 20, 1940, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, to the late Gladys and George Bobby.
A lifetime resident of the Shenango Valley, Judy graduated from Sharon High School in 1958 and went to work for Sharon Steel as a data entry clerk.
She married Carl W. Bottenfield on June 3, 1961.
Judy enjoyed spending her quiet time knitting and crocheting everything from afghans, to baby booties and hats, to dish cloths and donating them to charitable organizations or gifting them to her many friends. She also loved cooking and trying recipes from her extensive cookbook collection, tending to her backyard bird feeders and rides through Amish country.
She was an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hermitage and served on the Dorcas Women of ELCA committee.
After raising a family, Judy went back to work as a Tour Guide escorting visitors through the scenic roads of Western Pennsylvania Amish Country and also volunteered her time as a caregiver for hospice services in Mercer County.
She leaves behind a son, Carl of New Jersey; granddaughter, Ashley Hannah of Nevada and sister-in-law, Louise Knox of Hermitage.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; son, John and brother, Dave Bobby of Sharon.
The family would like to thank the dedicated doctors, nurses and caregivers at St. Elizabeth Hospital and Shenango On the Green of New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, for their compassionate care.
Calling hours will be Monday, August 23, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 3325 Morefield Road, Hermitage. Funeral service will begin 11:00 a.m.
