TRANSFER, Pennsylvania (MyValleyTributes) – Jack H. Meyer, Jr., 74 of Transfer, passed away at 2:33 p.m. on Monday, December 7, 2020, in UPMC Jameson, due to COVID-19.
Jack was born on June 3, 1946, in Sharon, to the late Jane (Yake) and Jack H. Meyer, Sr.
He was a 1965 graduate of Reynolds High School, where he ran track and held the school record for the mile.
He was employed at Westinghouse Electric, truck driver and retired as a corrections officer at Mercer State Prison.
Jack was a member of First Assembly of God, Hermitage, where he was a deacon and on the worship team.
He was a veteran of the Marine Corps from 1966 to 1969. Jack was very proud to have served his country during his tour in Vietnam. “Once A Marine, Always A Marine”.
He enjoyed woodworking and remodeling. He loved to help anyone who called him; that was his mission.
Jack is survived by wife, Pamela (Walthour) Meyer, whom he married April 26, 1969 and who survives at home; daughter, Lisa Marie Vodeni-char of Transfer; son, Todd J. Meyer and his wife, Julie, of Erie; sister, Cheryl Linsley and her husband, Ken, of Danville, Vermont and grandchildren, Brenna and Marissa Sposito, Sarah and Lindsey Meyer, Zach Edwards, Anthonie, Nethaniel, Timothy and Jayden Vodenichar.
He his preceded in death by his parents.
