HERMITAGE, Pennsylvania (MyValleyTributes) – Grover Thompson, of Hermitage, passed away at 1:22 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2019 in his residence after an extended illness. He was 87.
On December 25, 1931, Grover was born in Hermitage, a son to Nina (McLean) Thompson and Willard F. Thompson.
He graduated from Hickory High School in 1949.
Grover worked for Westinghouse Electric and the Hermitage street department. After he retired, he worked for Greenwood Pharmacy for ten years.
Mr. Thompson was a U.S. Army veteran and belonged to Lebanon United Presbyterian Church in Mercer.
Grover was a past president of Shenango Valley Boat Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and boating.
Surviving are his daughters, Terri Lynn Breese and her husband, Larry, Canutillo, Texas; a brother, Keith Thompson and his wife, Donna, Hermitage; grandchildren, Shannon Lee Sayre and her husband, David Kyle, Los Alamos, New Mexico; a great-grandson, Zane Paul Sayre and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Delores “Honey” (Taylor) Thompson, whom he married August 19, 1953 and who died April 30, 2012 and three brothers, Ronnie, Jerry and Duane “Dewey” Thompson.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the John Flynn Funeral Home & Crematory , 2630 East State Street,
Hermitage, PA 16148.
A funeral service will be on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
