SHARON, Pennsylvania (MyValleyTributes) – George R. Gruitza, 60, of Sharon, passed away Tuesday, August 10 in his home of natural causes.
Mr. Gruitza was born September 6, 1960, in Sharon, a son of the late John and Aurelia (Vulcan) Gruitza.
He was a 1979 graduate of Hickory High School. George earned his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Management from Youngstown State University.
After graduating he worked for Commercial Intertech in both Youngstown and Dallas, Texas where he met his future wife. He returned to the Valley and worked in management for Wheatland Tube Company.
George had a heart of gold and a truly generous spirit. He loved his family, his country, his friends and a couple of amazing dogs throughout his life. He passionately followed his favorite band, The Rolling Stones and was forever a lover of head banging rock and roll. He enjoyed driving his convertible and spending time out doors with his lifelong friend, Brian Prochenets.
George was a member of the former St. John’s Romanian Catholic Church, Hermitage.
Surviving are his former wife, Vikki Gruitza of Hermitage, who remained his best friend and caregiver throughout his life; two sisters, Virginia “Gigi” Cannone and her husband, Dr. Michael Cannone, of Poland, Ohio and Andrienne Tychonievich of Hubbard, Ohio and one brother, Attorney Michael Gruitza and his wife, Joan, of Hermitage. Also surviving are many cherished nieces and nephews and their growing families.
Besides his parents, George was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Seidel and his brother, John Gruitza.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests prayers and memorial contributions be made to the Shenango Valley Animal Shelter.
The family will gather for private prayers, remembrances and sharing of their sorrow.
