HERMITAGE, Pennsylvania (MyValleyTributes) – Edward C. McDougal, 78, of Hermitage, passed away at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at UPMC Passavant from COVID-19.
Ed was born June 15, 1942 in Sharon, to the late Jean (McMath) and Jack H. McDougal.
Edward was raised in the Catholic Church and graduated in 1961 from Sharpsville High School, where he played football and basketball and was a captain for both teams.
He was a proud Marine Corps veteran and made many lasting friends during his time in the service.
He worked until 1987 as a maintenance man at Westinghouse and later as a truck driver for Dean Foods.
In his free time, Ed enjoyed fishing, jitterbugging to music from the 1950s and ’60s and playing cards, especially euchre. He also played softball for Westinghouse and Walt’s Inn and he loved sports of any kind. He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Duke Blue Devils. Ed adored his cats, Jazzy, Gabby and Molly, whom he called his “babies.” He also loved going on cruises with his wife, Laura “Lolly” (Bordy) McDougal. Their favorite was going to Hawaii. They also enjoyed their trips to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, where they went 16 years in a row.
Ed is survived by his wife, Lolly, whom he married February 14, 1970 at home. He is also survived by a son, Shawn (Mikki) McDougal of Georgia; sisters-in-law, Janet Kurpe of Struthers, Ohio and Diane McDougal of Hermitage; special nephew, Michael Donatelli and his fiancée, Aubrey Carcelli and great-nephews, Mason and Maximus Donatelli.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, his twin, Robert McDougal and Jack McDougal and a brother-in-law, Don Kurpe.
