SHARON, Pennsylvania (MyValleyTributes) – Donna Rae Carpec, of Sharon, Pennsylvania passed away from natural causes in her residence at 12:04 p.m. on Monday, August 3, 2020. She was 78.
On July 18, 1942, Donna was born in Sharon, a daughter to Regina Novak Hardy and Peter
Carpec, Jr.; both now deceased.
After graduating from Hickory High School in 1960, Donna went on to work at Packard Electric, retiring in 1985 after 25 years. While at Packard, she was active in IUE Local 717 Union and served as President of the Coalition of Union Women. She also held national office as a delegate to CLUW International.
Donna was instrumental in starting Shenango Valley Labor Education Association in conjunction with Penn State College, pertaining to the associate degree program in labor studies.
In the late 70s, Donna was invited to a Presidential White House wine and cheese gathering and was formally introduced to First Lady Rosalyn Carter.
After retirement, Donna took to babysitting and caregiving for the elderly. She had an active role in helping raise many great-nieces and nephews.
Known for being an avid reader and animal lover, Donna also loved gardining, canning, crocheting and was an excellent cook and baker.
Donna was a member of the Unity Church Centre in Girard, Ohio.
She leaves two sons, Dean (Chris) Lutton of Rogers, Ohio and Jaime Lutton of West Palm Beach, Florida and an adopted son, Tom Maryanski of Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania; four sisters, Jeannie (Wick) Dillon of Sharpsville, Pennsylvania, Denice (Walter) Cochran of Hermitage, Pennsylvania Marcia Broadway of Augusta Georgia and Christine (Dan) Trinckes of Brookfield, Ohio; a brother, Rick (Pete) Carpec of Brookfield, Ohio; special nieces, Angel Campman of Sharpsville and Desiree Cantrell of Fowler, Ohio; stepchildren, Larry Keeper of West Virginia and Lori (Bill) Potts of E. Liverpool, Ohio; grandchildren, Brandi (Tony) Murphy, Candi (Billy) Goodlin and Evlena Lutton; stepgrandchildren, Nick, Chris, Shaylynn and Chloe Keeper and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Edward Burnside and Larry Keeper; a foster daughter, Alma Carlo; a sister, JoAnn Branscum and nephews, Brett Dillon and Ricky Carpec
