EAST PALESTINE, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – John Bruno, 94, formerly of Kenmar Drive, passed away at 3:38 p.m., Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the Salem East Nursing Home, where he had been a patient.
John was born January 2, 1925 in East Palestine, a son of the late James and Raffaela Bozzo Bruno and was a life resident of the community.
He had been employed at the former Babcock and Wilcox Tubular Products Company, Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, for over 30 years prior to his retirement.
He was a World War II Army veteran having served with the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes, the American Legion Post #31 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 4579.
John was preceded in death by his wife, the former Margaret “Peg” McCormick, whom he married October 20, 1962; a brother, Alfred; as well as, four sisters, Florence Gegus, Josephine Planko, Sue Morrison and Mathilda Bruno.
John is survived by his stepchildren, Dianne (Allan) Cope of Columbiana and John (Patty) McCormick of Massillon. He also leaves four grandsons, Allan and Richard Cope and Brian (Penny) McCormick and Scott (Tammy) McCormick and five great-grandchildren Matthew, Kaitlyn, Hailey, Zachary and Jarett McCormick. Other survivors include several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church with Father Christopher Cicero serving as celebrant.
Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Linsley-Royal Funeral Home from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 12. Military rites will be conducted by the combined units of the American Legion Post #31 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4579.
A television tribute will air Wednesday, April 10 at the following approximate times: 12:25 p.m. WKBN, 6:58 p.m. on MyYTV and 10:37 p.m. FOX plus two additional spots throughout the day.
