Joann Huston, 84, a lifelong resident of East Palestine passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown.
She was born March 12, 1935 in East Palestine, daughter of the late Glenn and Evelyn McNutt Crowl.
Joann graduated from East Palestine High School in 1953 and was the class treasurer for 17 years.
She volunteered at East Palestine Schools as an eye screener for 16 years and was a board member of the East Palestine Booster Club where she served as past president.
Joann was a lifelong member of the First Church of Christ and a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 381 and the Order of Rainbow Girls, where she earned a grand cross of colors and a member of the Junior Women’s Club for ten years and the Girls Card Club for over 60 years.
She enjoyed crafting and took great pride sending greeting cards to all her relatives and friends. She was friendly and was loved by everyone.
Joann is survived by two daughters, Marylee Huston of East Palestine and Julie (Dan) McCarthy of Jacksonville, Florida; as well as, two grandchildren, Christopher and Will McCarthy.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, William W. Huston in 2003 and two brothers, Robert and Kenneth Crowl; as well as, her parents.
The family will receive friends Sunday, April 7 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine.
The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 8 at the funeral home with Robert J. Helbeck officiating.
Interment will follow at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens in New Waterford.
Memorial contributions can be made in her name to the First Church of Christ in East Palestine.
