WEST MIDDLESEX, PA (MyValleyTributes) – Jane D. Rae, 71, of West Middlesex, passed away peacefully with her loved ones by her side on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, in her residence, following a brief battle with cancer.

Jane was born April 23, 1947, in Sharon, the only child of Frank and Virginia (Luse) Douds.

After graduating from Sharon High School in 1965, she went on to attend Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1969, later completing graduate studies to earn a Master’s Degree in Education.

Primarily an elementary education teacher, Jane taught in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and locally with the Sharon School District. She also substituted at West Middlesex School District and Mercer School District for several years. Most recently, Jane worked for West Central Job Partnership in New Castle, until being diagnosed in late 2018. She made many treasured memories with coworkers that become very close friends.

Jane was a previous member of the Shenango Valley League of Women Voters and the Shenango Valley College Club.

A wonderful mother and grandmother, Jane was highly dedicated to her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Jane is survived by her daughter, Mary Jo Miller and her husband, John and her four grandchildren, Noah, Ethan, Benjamin and Alira Troisi, all of West Middlesex; her beloved first cousin, Becky Kelly of Staunton, Virginia; her ex-husband, Harry Rae of Cape Cod, Massachusetts; her former son-in-law, Steven Troisi of S. Williamsport, Pennsylvania and former sister-in-law, Donna (Jerry) Rae of West Middlesex.

In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by an aunt, Mary Truxell of Staunton, Virginia.

Friends and family will be received from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. Friday, April 26, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State Street, Sharon.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m., following visitation, in the funeral home on Friday, April 26.
