James A. Griffith, 100, a longtime resident of East Palestine, passed away peacefully Monday, March 25, 2019 at his home with his family and caretaker by his side.
James was born January 21, 1919 in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, son of the late Alfred and Ina Morrison Griffith.
He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.
He was a 1937 graduate of East Palestine High School and a member of the East Palestine Masonic Lodge.
He was an avid fisherman that also enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family.
His wife, Mary Robson Griffith, whom he married October 10, 1942, preceded him in death in 1998. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Merwyn Griffith and a sister, Thelma VanFossen.
James is survived by a son, Timothy J. Griffith of East Palestine; daughter, Gwenna (Donald) Davidson of Valley Forge, Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, Jason James Griffith of Boardman and Janeen (Jeffrey) Bentz of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania and great-grandchildren, Brooke and Aiden Griffith, Madison Fleming, Ellie and Austin Bentz.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m.Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 28, prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in Glenview Cemetery with a luncheon afterwards.
A television tribute will air Wednesday, March 27 at the following approximate times: 6:41 a.m. WYTV and 8:41 a.m. MyYTV and 9:58 a.m. on FOX plus two additional spots throughout the day.
