As a pharmacist, Richard mentored many pharmacy students enrolled at Ohio Northern University, aspiring to join the profession. He also inspired many family members, three of his four children, a daughter-in-law, Michele, granddaughter, Angela, a Goddaughter, Susan and many more, to follow in his footsteps.

His beloved wife, the former Ann Vinski, whom he married on October 24, 1959, survives at home in Hermitage.
