WEST MIDDLESEX, Pennsylvania (MyValleyTributes) – Myra A. Spangler, 76, of West Middlesex, passed away Friday evening, June 2, 2023, in UPMC Horizon, Farrell.

Mrs. Spangler was born November 19, 1946, in Grove City, the only daughter of the late Thomas and Erma (Mohney) Covington.

A lifelong area resident, she was a 1966 graduate of Farrell High School. She later completed her beautician schooling and certification in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

On November 10, 1973, she married the love of her life, Raymond E. Spangler and he preceded her in death in 2008.

A talented beautician, Myra owned and operated her own beauty salon out of her home in Farrell for many years. Later in life, she worked as a baker at Charlie’s Specialities, Hermitage, which inspired her to open her own bakery, Spangler Sweet Shop, which she operated in Grove City.

An excellent cook, avid animal lover and a gifted artist, Myra was also a member of the spinner and weaving guild. She enjoyed making jewelry and knitting, especially hats, scarves and mittens. Myra donated over 100 hats to the Hillman Cancer Center and the Children’s Center at UPMC Horizon, both in Farrell. Most of all, Myra enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her beloved dog, Bella.

She is survived by her daughter, Tara A, Johnson (Emery); a son, Raymond T. Spangler (Danielle) and five grandchildren, Colton, Emery, Liberty, Samuel and Savanna.

In addition to her parents and husband, Myra was preceded in death by a grandson, Covington Spangler Johnson.
