HERMITAGE, Pennsylvania (MyValleyTributes) – Mary Margaret Jones, 70, of Hermitage passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Friday evening, August 5, 2022, in her home.

Ms. Jones was born November 25, 1951, in Sharon, a daughter of the late Clarence W. and Helene R. (Eichinger) Jones. A lifelong area resident, she graduated from Kennedy Christian High School in 1970.

In 2018, Mary retired from the Mercer County Community Counseling Center where she had worked in financial accounts. She was previously employed as secretary and treasurer of St. Joseph Church in Sharon.

Mary was a member of St. Joseph Church where she volunteered and served as a Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (C.C.D.) teacher. She was also an Associate of the Sisters of St. Joseph. Mary’s faith and trust in God helped her greatly throughout her life and illness.

A talented seamstress, Mary made many stoles for the clergy of the Catholic Church. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved as her own children.

Mary is survived by four brothers, Richard Jones (Patricia), Sharon, Pennsylvania, David Jones (Penny), Erie, Pennsylvania and Timothy Jones (Jane) and Gary Jones (Gayle), all of Hermitage; also surviving are five nephews; eight nieces; 10 great-nephews; eight great-nieces; and five great-great-nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Sisters of St. Joseph, 5031 W. Ridge Road, Erie, PA 16506.

Calling hour will be 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2022, in St. Joseph Church, 79 Case Avenue, Sharon. Mass of Christian Burial will be immediately following at 10:30 a.m. in the church, with Rev. Thomas Whitman, as celebrant. 

Interment will be in St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
