HERMITAGE, Pennsylvania (MyValleyTributes) – Frank P. Frankovich, 89, of Hermitage, passed away Friday, February 10, 2023, in Quality Life Services, Mercer.
Mr. Frankovich was born July 14, 1933, in Farrell, a son of the late Frank J. and Wilba (Fabich) Frankovich. A lifelong area resident, he graduated from Farrell High School in 1951.
Frank honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, reaching the rank of Corporal.
Upon his honorable discharge, Frank continued his employment at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. He then furthered his education and became a teacher at Mathews High School, Vienna, Ohio. Frank ultimately retired from the Ohio Education Association, where he served as a staff member.
He was an avid tennis fan and would compete in many local tournaments. Mr. Frankovich was also active in the Notre Dame Church softball league and the Sharon Gus Macker three on three basketball tournaments. He was a member of the Croatian American Civic Club, the Croatian Fraternal Union and the United States Tennis Association. In his retirement, he enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his two grandchildren.
His wife, the former Janna Drake, whom he married August 31, 1957, passed away January 8, 2023.
Mr. Frankovich is survived by a son, Kevin (Laura) Frankovich of Hermitage; a daughter, Paula (Dave) Scott of Wilmington, North Carolina; a brother, Mark (Mary) Frankovich of Sharon and two grandchildren, Christina Marie and Kendall Anthony Scott.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Calling hours will be 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., prior to services, Thursday, February 16 inJ. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State Street, Sharon. Memorial Service will begin at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home, with the Very Rev. Richard Allen, officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.
