GREENVILLE, PA (MyValleyTributes) - Helen E. Bortz, 89, of 110 Fredonia Road, Greenville, (Hempfield Township), Pennsylvania, formerly of 30 Redfoot Road, Delaware Township, passed away following an extended illness at 9:29 a.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at The Grove at Greenville.
She was born in Otter Creek Township, Pennsylvania on December 13, 1928 to the late, Lawrence Simon and Mary Ellen (Wasser) Froman.
Helen was a long-time member of the Jerusalem Christian Church in Greenville, where she belonged to the Bible study group and was a member of the busy bees quilters. She was also a long-time member of the Stony Point Grange No. 1694.
Helen was a 1946 Fredonia Delaware Joint High School graduate.
She retired from Mercer County Living Center in 1986, after working there for 13 years as a cook. Prior to that, she worked at the Greenville Ice Rink for 11 years, where she was known to many as H.B.
Helen enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting and embroidery work.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Ann Gordon and her husband, Harry "Butch", of Hartsville, South Carolina; a son, Larry Edward Bortz of Greenville, Pennsylvania; granddaughter, Angela M. Bachochin and her husband, Chris, of Lamar, South Carolina and two great-grandchildren, Anna M. Bachochin and Michael J. Bachochin, both of Lamar, South Carolina.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a previous husband, Charles R. Bortz.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 9, 2018, from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Jerusalem Christian Church, 560 Donation Road, Greenville.
A funeral service with committal prayers will follow the visitation at the church at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 9, 2018, with John Canon, minister of the church, officiating.
Burial will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery, Stoneboro, Pennsylvania.
