Helen D. Ruschak, 87, of Howland, entered eternal life Monday, April 16, 2018 at 2:04 p.m. with her family at her side in St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown after suffering a stroke one week ago.

Helen was born on March 12, 1931 in Gary, West Virginia the daughter of the late George and Anna Refka Chlebus.

She retired after 25 years from the former Warren General Hospital in the cafeteria where she was a dietary supervisor.

Helen loved to cook and bake. She enjoyed cake decorating for all occasions including all of her children and grandchildren’s milestones. She enjoyed gardening and doing yardwork.

Helen was of the Catholic faith and a member since 1963 of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish-SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church.

Helen was married on July 21, 1954 to Andrew “Andy Hill” Ruschak and they were married for 50 years until his passing on December 30, 2004.

Her memory will be cherished by her two children, Dianne C. (Ed) Roscoe of Howland and Andrew A. (Cathy) Ruschak of Angier, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Thomas Ruschak, Matthew (Lauren) Roscoe and Carrie (Josh) Trebus and three great-grandchildren, Bryson and Ava Trebus and Kate Roscoe.

Besides her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by three siblings in Europe; a brother George Chlebus; an infant brother, Joey Chlebus and sisters, Ann Schuley, Rose Ballotta, Mary Kremin, Julia Benyi and Veronica Arnoto.

Calling hours will take place on Friday, April 20, 2018 from 9:00 – 9:50 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish-SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, 1234 High Street NE, Warren, Ohio 44483.

A Mass of Christian Burial, with Fr. Craig A. McHenry officiating, will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 20 in the church.

Burial will follow next to her husband in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Helen’s name to the Heritage Fund of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 2532 Burton Street SE, Warren, Ohio 44484.
