LAKE MILTON, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Eva Ann (Nelson) Courtney, a woman of great love and passion, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 21, 2023, in Alliance, Ohio.
Born on December 12, 1937, in Vermont, Eva’s life was a testament to her thoughtfulness, dedication and the strong bonds of family.
Eva spent her early years in the verdant landscapes of Vermont, before meeting and marrying the love of her life, Harold Courtney. Together, they built a family that was the center of her universe.
She was a beloved mother to her son, David Courtney; daughter, Carol Scarl and a cherished sister to Margaret Stiles of New Hampshire, Pricilla Smith of Beloit and Ruth (Raymond) Spencer of Alliance.
Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Courtney; her son, David Courtney; son-in-law, Tony Scarl; her sister, Ida Nelson and her parents, William and Berniece Nelson.
Eva worked for West Branch Schools as a bus driver a position she held for 20 years.
Above all, Eva was a devoted family woman who held her loved ones close to her heart. She was a doting grandmother to five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Her love for them was boundless and she cherished every moment spent in their company. Family was not just an important part of Eva’s life; it was her life.
In her later years, Eva found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She relished her 4:00 coffee dates with her sisters, a tradition that was more about companionship and shared laughter than the beverage itself. She also thoroughly enjoyed her time at Brookdale, where she was actively involved in social events and activities. These gatherings provided her with an opportunity to pamper herself and engage in lively discussions with her peers.
Eva’s love extended to her furry companion, Tinkerbell, a cat that brought immense joy to her life for 15 years. Their bond was a testament to Eva’s caring and nurturing nature and Tinkerbell’s presence brought her immense comfort and companionship.
