SALEM, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Bernard L. Moore, 83, of Salem passed away at home on Monday, February 27, 2023.

He was born in Rural Valley, Pennsylvania on March 1, 1939, the son of the late Samuel Scott and Sara Mae (DeLancey) Moore.

Bernard was a graduate of Rural Valley Schools and retired as a crane operator for Ohio Edison after many years of service.

He was a member of the North Benton Presbyterian Church, the Massillon Moose Lodge #481 and the Early Day Gas Engine and Tractor Association.

He was an avid Steelers and Indians fan, enjoyed going camping, working on crossword puzzles and collecting many different things. He loved to attend and watch his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in multiples sports and activities, however, most important was his time he got to spend with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Margaret L. (Haggerty) Moore, whom he married on June 1, 1957; his two daughters, Gail Berger of Damascus and Sandra (Tim) Wilmoth of Salem and four grandchildren, Bernard (Jill) Moore II of Eldridge, Iowa, Shane (Caryn) Berger of Columbus, Amanda Berger (Jason Gorby) of Sebring and Lydia Wilmoth of Salem. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Gabriel Moore, Levi Moore, Liam Berger, Dominic Berger, Quinn Berger, Abigail Carver and Michael Rodriguez and his siblings, Thomas (Chris) Moore of DuBois, Pennsylvania and Nancy (John) McMillen of Mansfield.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Moore.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. at the North Benton Presbyterian Church with Rev. Herb Goetz officiating. A time of visitation will be held the hour prior to the service at the church from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.

Burial will take place on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Rural Valley Cemetery in Pennsylvania.
