HERMITAGE, PA (MyValleyTributes) – Eleanor M. Smeltz, 72, of Hermitage, formerly of Greenville and Mercer, passed away unexpectedly at 2:45 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2019, in UPMC Presbyterian.
She was born December 9, 1946, in Sharon, a daughter of Joseph DeMarco and Eleanor (Burkhart) DeMarco.
Eleanor graduated from Mercer High School in 1964.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of I.H.S. Gospel Ministries, Hermitage.
Eleanor was a proud member of Bundle Babies and she enjoyed knitting, baking, cooking and gardening.
She married Harry Smeltz on July 5, 1969; he survives at home. Also surviving are a daughter, Tammy Yerty and her husband, Joe, of Martinsburg, Pennsylvania; a son, Harold Smeltz and his wife, Penny, of Stoneboro; two sisters, Theresa DeMarco and her companion, Bob Johnston, of Sharpsville and Mary DeMarco of Sharpsville; two brothers, Joe DeMarco, Jr. and his wife, Donna, of Mercer and James DeMarco of Sharon; a granddaughter, Ashley Yerty and a special nephew whom she helped raise, Matt Eastlick and his wife, Mindy, of Pulaski.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Antoinette DeMarco and two brothers, Louie and Frank DeMarco.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 9 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at John Flynn Funeral Home and Crematory in Hermitage.
Funeral service will be Thursday, May 9 at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor C. Charles Eckles officiating.
A television tribute will air Wednesday, May 8 at the following approximate times: 6:41 a.m. WYTV and 8:41 a.m. MyYTV and 9:58 a.m. on FOX plus two additional spots throughout the day.
