Edward J. Hazelwood 86, of East Palestine, (Formerly of Butler Township, Salem and Florida) died at 9:20 a.m. on Friday, August 31, 2018, at the home of his granddaughter.

He was born on February 14, 1932 in Darlington Township, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, the son of the late, Joseph Edward and Novela (Widner) Hazelwood, Sr.

He was a former grinder at Babcock and Wilcox Steel Plant in Beaver Falls for 32 years.

Ed was a member of the Mt. Calvary Community Church in Unity.

He had lived in Florida for 25 years and returned to East Palestine in 2005. They later moved to Butler Township and then recently returned to East Palestine.

He was one of the founding members of the “Gospel Impressions” singing group. They have performed all over the area and in Florida.

He is survived by the love of his life for 66 years, the former, Emma Lucinda Barnhouse whom he married on January 12, 1952; his loving children, Patricia Ann (Raymond) Card of Salem, Donna Renee (Michael) McMillan of East Palestine and Carol Ann (John) Basinger of Columbiana; a sister, Maxalee Morris of East Palestine; nine grandchildren, Marcia Slagle, James Adams, Scott Deeter, Matt Deeter, Denise Gane, Ben Basinger, Tami Paniagua and Stephanie Curfman; sixteen great-grandchildren, Cassondra Feezle, Bethany Vollnogle, Abbigal Jones-Adams, Marcus Deeter, Timothea Deeter, Austin Deeter, Isabella Deeter, Alysa Baddely, Tyler Gane, Sydni Holmes, Seth Holmes, Ian Freed, Parker Paniagua, Kaden Paniagua, Brandy Palmer and Amber Holloway; four great-great-grandchildren, Miyah Vollnogle, Vincent Baddely, Chasyn Freed and one soon to be born.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Bill Salmons and siblings, Joyce Kitchen, Glen and Silvamay Hazelwood.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service held at the Mt. Calvary Community Church on Saturday, September 29, 2018.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem.
