NEW SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 12:00 Noon at St. Paul the Apostle Church in New Middletown for David H. May, 75, who passed away on Saturday evening, April 20, 2019.
David was born July 8, 1943 in Salem, Ohio, a son of J. Everett and Velma A. Linhart May.
He lived in the area his whole life and was a 1961 graduate of Springfield Local High School and the Dana School of Music at YSU.
He taught and was the band director at David Anderson High School in Lisbon for five years. David was the owner and operator of the Hummel Gift Shop in New Springfield for many years, retiring in 2014.
He was the organist for the First Presbyterian Church in Lisbon for 20 years and was organist and member of the building committee of the New Springfield Church of God and also was a member and president of Mahoning County Youngstown Community Convention and Visitors Bureau.
He liked to garden and enjoyed antiques and crafts. He had a personal prison ministry.
David married the former Frances Corso on October 18, 1974.
Besides his wife he leaves two nieces, Delinda (Mike) Ferguson and Denean Ondash.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Gala Slagle.
Friends may call on Thursday, April 25 from 10:00 – 11:45 a.m. before the service, at St. Paul the Apostle Church.
