HERMITAGE, PA (MyValleyTributes) – Bonita M. Laverty, of Grove City, formerly of Hermitage, passed away at 3:10 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at Grove City Quality Life Services after an extended illness. She was 79.
She was born November 2, 1939, in Sharon, a daughter of Wayne Lyth and Estella (Johnson) Lyth.
Bonita was a homemaker.
She enjoyed playing bingo and bar tending.
She is survived by a daughter, Gena Laverty of Farrell; two sons, Robert W. Laverty and his wife, LaRayne, of Saegertown and James D. Laverty of Sharon; a sister, Dorothy Boles of Hermitage; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Bonita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard “Stretch” Laverty, whom she married August 25, 1960 and who passed away September 30, 2012; two sons, William D. and R.J. Laverty; two sisters and five brothers.
Calling hours will be 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., prior to the funeral service, Saturday, April 6 in John Flynn Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2630 E. State Street, Hermitage.
Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., following visitation, Saturday, April 6, in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will be in America’s Cemetery.
A television tribute will air Friday, April 5 at the following approximate times: 12:25 p.m. WKBN, 6:58 p.m. on MyYTV and 10:37 p.m. FOX plus two additional spots throughout the day.
