Betty Jane Magee, of Sharon, passed away in her residence of natural causes on Tuesday, October 30, 2018. She had just celebrated her 94th birthday.
In 1924, Betty was born in Greenville, Pennsylvania on October 27, a daughter to Adrienne (Menold) and Edward Wasser.
After graduating from Farrell High School in 1942, Betty went on to work at Westinghouse Electric on the assembly line during WWII. After the war ended, Betty worked for G.C. Murphy Co. and then Reyers Shoe Store as a sales clerk, retiring in 1989.
Leo Francis Magee and Betty Jane Wasser were wed on January 12, 1945. Together, they had three daughters and 30 years of marriage before Leo passed away on August 11, 1975.
Betty remained active, being a member of the ladies card club, bowling league and St. John’s Episcopal Church in Sharon. She also loved to dance every Saturday evening.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Graban and her husband, John, Jr. of Sharon and Beth Taylor and her husband, Christopher, Sr., of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 13 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Kathleen Ritenour; a sister, Ella Mae Mullen and a brother, Harold (Boomer) Wasser.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 1, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at John Flynn Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. in Hermitage.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, November 1, 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel following visitation.
A television tribute will air Wednesday, October 31 at the following approximate times: 12:25 p.m. WKBN, 6:58 p.m. on MyYTV and 10:37 p.m. FOX plus two additional spots throughout the day.
