SALEM, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Rev. Robert O. Vermilyea, 93, of McClure, Pennsylvania, (formerly of the Salem area) died 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at the home of his daughter.
He was born on April 29, 1926, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of the late Wright and Manelvia Alice (Taylor) Vermilyea.
He was a minister and faithfully served in S. Zanesville, Ohio; Mt. Vernon, Ohio; Mitchell, South Dakota; Watford City, North Dakota; Dayton, Ohio; Mission Field, Haiti; Finley, Ohio; Greenwood, Pennsylvania; Ashville, New York and Struthers, Ohio.
He is survived by his daughters, Linda (Gordon) Kincaid of McClure, Pennsylvania and Roberta (David) Miller of Thomasville, North Carolina; sister, Mary Cornelli of Dayton; grandchildren, Julia, Sylvia and Lydia Miller, Nathaniel (Melanie) Kincaid and Jonathan (Amber) Kincaid and great-grandchildren, Naisa, Grayson, Josiah, Hadley and Elias Kincaid.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lorna (Baldwin) Vermilyea on October 21, 2012; granddaughter, Patricia (Brent) Bigger; great-grandchildren, Caroline and Anthony Bigger and brothers, Paul and Gerald.
Services will be on Saturday, February at 2:00 p.m. at the Salem Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church. The Rev. Stanley Grabill will be officiating and burial to follow in Damascus, Ohio. A time of visitation will be from Noon – 2:00 p.m. at the church.
