Aaron M. Brest, of Sharon, passed away Saturday morning, November 24, 2018. He was 32.
Aaron was born March 11, 1986, in Tampa, Florida, a son of David A. and Diana L. (Lutz) Brest.
A lifelong area resident, he was a 2004 graduate of Hickory High School, Hermitage, where he was a standout member of the boys varsity baseball and football team. Aaron went on to play baseball at the collegiate level for several schools, including California University of Pennsylvania, California, Pennsylvania, from which he earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Sports Management in 2010.
Aaron previously worked as a student recruiter at EDMC (Education Management Corporation), Pittsburgh.
An accomplished kart racer, Aaron traveled the Northeastern United States competing in various racing circuits. He accumulated multiple point championships and feature wins. Most importantly to him, the relationships he made while competing formed the “racing family” that he cherished his entire life.
He is survived by his parents, David and Diana Brest of Sharon; a brother, Andrew Brest of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; maternal grandparents, Andrew and Billie Lutz of Hermitage; two uncles, Andrew Lutz and his wife, Trisha, of Richwood, Ohio and Michael Lutz of Mercer; former companion, Kate Blakley and many cousins.
Aaron was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Hazel Brest.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the family.
Calling hours will be 3:00 – 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 27, 2018, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State Street, Sharon.
Funeral service will be 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 27, in the funeral home following visitation, with Pastor Joseph Thomas, of Victory Christian Center, Coitsville, Ohio, officiating.
A television tribute will air Tuesday, November 27 at the following approximate times: 6:41 a.m. WYTV and 8:41 a.m. MyYTV and 9:58 a.m. on FOX plus two additional spots throughout the day.
