Election May 2019: Mary Jo Basilone DePreta

Elections
Mary Jo Basilone DePreta, running for Mercer Clerk of Courts

Name: Mary Jo Basilone DePreta
City of Residence: Mercer
Party Affiliation: Democrat
Office Desired: Clerk of Courts
Facebook: MaryJo Basilone-DePreta for Clerk & Register

Why I should be elected
I bring to this position 6 years of experience working in the Clerk of Courts office. Prior to that I worked for 22 years as a legal secretary. I believe the person elected to this office should have extensive knowledge of the law, court procedures and a positive image within the county. My experience in the Clerk of Courts office; the diversity of work experience as a legal secretary and bookkeeper, and my rapport with the attorneys of our county makes it apparent I am the candidate who would be best to transition this office from the current Clerk of Courts, Kathleen M. Kloos, to its next elected official.

Top three priorities
I would first like to offer a smooth transition from the prior Clerk of Courts, who has been in office for the past 24 years. Over the course of the next several years I would like to work towards getting the PACFile service to our county. This is electronic filing through the Pennsylvania Unified Judicial System website. Our office also encompasses the Register of Wills and Orphan’s Court records. I will work to ensure the preservation of these records.
