Austintown Fitch Veterans Day Assembly
Austintown Fitch will hold its Annual Veterans Day Assembly on Friday, November 11 at 8:30 a.m. in the Fitch High School Auditorium. All veterans from the community are welcome.
This year`s speaker will be Senior Master Sergeant Thomas Marhulik.

Canfield Veterans Plaza dedication
American Legion Post 177 will host a formal dedication of the recently constructed Veterans Plaza on the North Green in Canfield on November 11 at 1 p.m. There will be light refreshments after the program at the Lane Family Center, 45 N. Broad Street, Canfield, OH.

Columbiana Schools’ Veterans Day programs

  • Thursday, November 10 at Columbiana Middle School at 9 a.m.
    720 Columbiana-Waterford Rd., Columbiana, OH 44408
    *on the same campus as High School; the ceremony will be held in High School Commons and Auditorium
    Students had the opportunity to invite veterans from the community or family members to eat breakfast with them in the high school commons/auditorium. Following breakfast, there will be a short program of patriotic songs with the presentation of colors by Post 290 American Legion.
  • Friday, November 11 at Columbiana High School at 9 a.m.
    700 Columbiana-Waterford Rd., Columbiana, OH
    Students had the opportunity to invite veterans from the community or family members to eat breakfast with them in the Commons. Following breakfast, students and their veterans will be invited to the auditorium for a choral performance by the Show Choir and Choir of patriotic songs. The program will include a Veteran slide show, guitar solo, bell solo and more. The Veterans in attendance will receive a flag decal as a token of our appreciation and commemoration of Veterans Day.
  • Friday, November 11 at Joshua Dixon Elementary School at 2 p.m.

    Students had the opportunity to invite Veterans from the community or family members for “Pastries and Patriotism.”

Greenville High School’s Veterans Day assembly
The assembly features music and guest speakers at 8:30 a.m Thursday in the auditorium. Veterans are invited to attend as students learn more about the contributions and sacrifices they have made. Veterans should arrive by 8:15 a.m.

Heritage Manor Rehabilitation & Retirement Community’s Veterans Day program
Friday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. at Heritage Manor, 517 Gypsy Lane, Youngstown, OH
Veterans who are Heritage Manor Rehabilitation & Retirement Community residents, Levy Gardens Assisted Living tenants and Adult Day Services at Heritage Manor clients will be honored in a ceremony sponsored by Heritage Manor and Southern Care Hospice. Each veteran will be individually recognized, given a certificate and pin and saluted. The DAV will be in attendance and Mary Jo Maluso and Rick Blackson will perform.

Jackson-Milton High School’s Veterans Day Ceremony
Friday, November 11, at 9 a.m. in the High School/Middle School Cafetorium
All Veterans and the public is invited. There will be a light lunch for veterans following the ceremony. There will be a second program in the elementary school at 12:30 p.m.

Leetonia Exempted Village School District’s Veterans Day Ceremony
The ceremony will take place at 8 a.m. November 11 and is a recognition assembly along with a free breakfast for veterans and one guest in the school cafeteria. This is open to all Leetonia School students and their families.

Lisbon School District Veterans Day program
Friday, November at McKinley Elementary School starting at 9 a.m. with breakfast for the veterans and David Anderson Jr./Sr. High School program at 1:15 p.m.

Mercer Elementary School’s Veterans program
The school is hosting a veterans program at 1 p.m. Friday in the gym. Doors open at noon, and all veterans are welcome.

Sharpsville Elementary School’s Veterans Day assembly
Veterans are invited to an assembly on Friday starting with coffee and donuts at 9 a.m. in the gym lobby. Veterans may bring their spouses and grandchildren. Uniforms and medals are encouraged.

Sharpsville’s Veterans Day parade
The borough is holding a Veterans Day parade at 7 p.m. Friday.

Slippery Rock University’s Veterans Day ceremony
The ceremony will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Russell Wright Alumni House on campus. It is open to the public and organized by the Office of Alumni Engagement and the Office for Inclusive Excellence.

The keynote speaker is Col. Michael Brobeck, a 1986 SRU graduate with a degree in business administration. He has served for nearly 36 years and is currently deputy chief of the Facilities Engineering Division of the U.S. Army`s Defense Intelligence Agency in Washington, D.C.
Members of the SRU Army ROTC will raise the colors, lay a wreath and fire a 21-gun salute. Lt. Col. Jennifer Martin, professor of military science, will recognize enlisted cadets and the SRU Chamber Singers Quartet will perform the national anthem and “God Bless America.”
Jacob Pallo of Sharpsville, a graduate student majoring in music education, will perform “Taps.”

Springfield Local High School’s Veterans Day Assembly
Friday, November 11 at Springfield Local High School at 9:30 a.m.

There will be a breakfast for veterans followed by a program at 10 a.m. including a joint-musical performance by the choir and band, speaker and presentation of colors. Community members were also asked to submit photos for a special presentation of veterans.

Warming Party
Thursday, November 10, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Veteran`s Haven Office, 131 W. Boardman St. Ste. A, Youngstown, OH
Veteran`s Haven and Youngstown Blue Coats have partnered together to provide warming gear for homeless Veterans in the Valley. Must show a DD 214 or Veteran ID. Light snacks and beverages will be provided.

Washington Square Veterans Day event
Valley Senior Choir will be singing to veterans on Veterans Day at Washington Square in Warren.

West Branch Schools’ Veterans Day events
Veterans and the community are invited to events at West Branch Local School District to honor veterans the week of November 7-11.
Throughout the district, students have been discussing the role of veterans and putting together artwork, presentations and more.
The following programs are planned:

Westminster College’s Veterans Day program
The Office of Faith and Spirituality at Westminster College in New Wilmington hosts a Veterans Day program at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Wallace Memorial Chapel on campus. The public is welcome.
The guest speaker is Lt. Col. Phillip R. Lenz, retired U.S. Army Military Police and director of public safety at Westminster. There will also be music.

Veterans Day Discounts 

Applebee’s will give thanks to all active military, veterans, Reserves and National Guard with the offer of a complimentary entrée from a special menu.

BJ’s Restaurant
Current and former military who dine in-restaurant on November 11 will enjoy a complimentary meal from a select menu and a Dr. Pepper beverage.

Bob Evans
On November 11, the restaurant will be offering a special menu of seven homestyle favorites available to veterans and active-duty military for free. The offer is for dine-in only, and a beverage is not included. Veterans and active-duty military must show proof of service.

Brian’s Barber Shop – Salem
Free haircuts for veterans are offered from 8 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. on Nov. 11. Just walk into the shop located at 174 South Lincoln Avenue.

Cafe 422/The Living Room Tavern/Candywood Wine Cellar 
A free dessert is being offered with a military ID and purchase of an entre. Available at: Cafe 422, 4422 Youngstown Rd. SE, Warren; Cafe 422, 8586 South Ave. Boardman; The Living Room Tavern, 5000 E. Market St. Suite 14, Warren; Candywood Wine Cellar, 765 Scoville North Rd., Vienna.

All veterans and active military members can get a free meal on November 11 at all participating Chili’s Grill & Bar restaurants. Available for in-restaurant only. Please call ahead to your local Chili’s restaurant if you have any questions about your Veterans Day meals. Dollar General
Veterans, active-duty military and their families can get 20% off purchases Nov. 10-13 after verifying military credentials online.

Dunkin’ Donuts
All day on Friday, November 11, Dunkin’ will be celebrating veterans and active military personnel with a free donut as a token of appreciation for their service.

Golden Corral
Golden Corral is hosting its Military Appreciation Night on Monday, November 14, from 5 p.m. to close. This includes a free meal when dining in. 

Great Clips
Veterans and active military members can visit a U.S. Great Clips salon and receive either a free haircut that day or a free haircut card. In addition, non-military customers who get a haircut on Veterans Day at Great Clips will receive a free haircut card they can give to an active service member or veteran. The cards can be redeemed for a free haircut from Nov.12 through Dec. 9.

Kohl’s is offering active and former military personnel, veterans and their immediate families 30% off in stores Veterans Day weekend — Friday, Nov. 11 through Sunday, Nov, 13 — with a valid military ID. See the store’s website for restrictions.

Little Caesars
Little Caesars is offering a free lunch combo for veterans on Friday, Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The offer is available in-store only, while supplies last. Proof of service is required.

Participating McDonald’s restaurants across Ohio will offer free meals (no purchase necessary) to all veterans on Friday, Nov. 11, with valid ID. Each meal will feature a choice of sandwich, drink, and a side.  

  • Breakfast: A choice of an Egg McMuffin or a Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit. All options come with any size soft drink, tea or hot coffee and a Hash Brown. 
  • Lunch and Dinner: A choice of a Double Cheeseburger, 6-Piece Chicken McNuggets or a Filet-O-Fish will be offered. All options come with any size soft drink, tea or hot coffee and small fries. 

McDonald’s Greater Ohio Instagram account will also host a Virtual Applause Fundraiser in honor of those who serve. To participate, follow @mcdonalds_greaterohio on Instagram and for every like, comment and share generated from the social media post, McDonald’s restaurant operators will donate $1 (up to $2,500) to Military Veterans Resource Center in Ohio.

Red Lobster
In honor of Veterans Day, and to thank veterans, active-duty military and reservists for their service, Red Lobster is offering dine-in guests a free Walt’s Favorite Shrimp, Fries and Coleslaw on Friday, November 11. Guests only need to show a valid military ID or proof of service to redeem this offer. It’s only valid dine-in and to-go orders placed in-restaurant between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

On Friday, November 11, 2022, Sheetz invites all veterans and active duty military personnel to enjoy a free half ham and cheese or meatball sub and a regular-size fountain drink at any of Sheetz’s 660+ store locations. Sheetz will also provide a free car wash to veterans and active duty military. This offer only applies to the $9 wash option and is only available at Sheetz stores that have a car wash. Military ID or proof of service must be presented to qualify. Sigaro Cigar Lounge
A light dinner will be served to veterans and active duty military, free of charge, from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11. All veterans and active duty servicemen and women also receive 15% off cigars and memberships during the event. Sigaro is located at 230 N. Main St. in Hubbard.

Nov. 11 through Nov. 14, veterans, military and their families will receive 20% off regular price eligible store items at any Walgreens or Duane Reade drugstore nationwide with myWalgreens and proof of service.

Wendy’s is offering those who have served or are currently serving in the U.S. military a free breakfast combo offer on Friday, Nov. 11. A valid military ID or a Veterans Advantage card must be presented.
