Chelsea Spears

Chelsea Spears is the morning co-anchor and noon anchor for WKBN.

She joined the 27 First News team in October 2017, which brought Chelsea back to her home state of Ohio.

Chelsea now calls the Valley home but is originally from Columbus. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from The Ohio State University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.

Chelsea has been in the TV News Industry for the better part of a decade. She got her start behind the scenes as an assignment editor in Columbus. More recently, she was the morning reporter at WKBN’s sister station in Charleston, West Virginia. She then transferred to Youngstown to anchor.
In her time at WKBN, Chelsea has been nominated for an Emmy for Best Daytime Newscast.

In 2022, she was also nominated by the American Heart Association to be one of the first-ever Women of Impact nominees in the Valley. In that campaign, Chelsea raised almost $13,000 to fight the No. 1 killer of women: heart disease. She ended up winning the “Inspiring the Community” award for her efforts in rallying viewers to lead heart-healthier lives.

While at WKBN, Chelsea has also volunteered for several other local organizations: the Community Food Warehouse of Mercer County, Project MKC, YMCA Community Cup, Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley, Red Cross, Salvation Army and Angels for Easter Seals.

You can connect with Chelsea on FacebookTwitter, or Instagram.

You can also catch her live Monday-Friday on CBS from 5-7 AM, FOX Youngstown from 7-9 AM and CBS at Noon.
