
Digital Executive Producer Chelsea Simeon has been working for WKBN since 2015, overseeing web content on WKBN.com and WYTV.com as well as social media. She grew up in the area, in Brookfield, Ohio, and graduated from Youngstown State University with a major in journalism.
Chelsea started her career as a print journalist, working in the Cleveland area for the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram. During that time, she covered the crime beat as well as local communities. Before coming to WKBN, Chelsea also worked on marketing initiatives for the Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber.
While working at the Chronicle-Telegram, she received two first-place awards for Enterprise Writing and Children’s Issues Reporting from the Ohio Associated Press Awards in 2013 as well as a first-place Children’s Issues and Public Service Reporting award from the Ohio SPJ awards in 2014.
At WKBN, she and co-worker Jordan Unger were recognized by the Ohio Associated Press Media Editors with a first-place award for Best Digital Project for: “Playground, Cameras, New Pick-up Truck: How Local Communities Spent Federal Money for COVID-19 Relief.”
