Caps call up veteran Nylander

The Washington Capitals recalled veteran center Michael Nylander from the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL on Wednesday.

Nylander was sent to Grand Rapids for a two-week conditioning stint, logging a goal and five assists in five games with the Griffins.

Nylander has played 920 career NHL games for the Caps, Rangers, Bruins, Blackhawks, Lightning, Flames and Whalers, and notched 209 goals and 470 assists over the course of 15 seasons.

The 37-year-old forward has yet to play in a game this season.
