Joe Glenn will enter his second season as the head coach of South Dakota this fall. Glenn has a long track record of coaching successful teams at Northern Colorado (2 Division II Championships in 1996 & 1997) and at Montana (2001 Division I-AA Championship) before embarking on the Wyoming job from 2003-08 (30-41).

The Boyden, Iowa native scored a team-high 6 touchdowns (all rushing). Offensive coordinator Wesley Beschorner has to be pleased to see one of his top weapons returning also in wide out Terrance Terry (53 catches, 567 yards, 3 TDs).
Offensive Weakness: Running the football was a major issue for South Dakota a year ago. Marcus Sims led the team with 586 stripes on 120 carries. The rest of the team managed 734 yards on 228 attempts, good for an average of 3.2 yards per rush.
Defensive Strength: Senior linebacker Tyler Starr was named to the 2013 Buck Buchanan Award Watch List. He is one of twenty individuals to be named to this prestigious list. Number 11 posted 34 solo tackles (74 total) and 4 quarterback sacks in 2012.
Defensive Weakness: Last season, the Coyote defense had issues getting off the field. South Dakota allowed their opponents to convert on 49% of their third down plays (78-158) and 90.9% (40-44) of their red zone drives.
Storylines Facing the Coyotes
1. Tough Season for the Coyotes. South Dakota began their first season as a FCS member by winning just one of eleven contests, losing their final nine games. The Coyotes last suffered through a one-win season in 1991 (1-8). Can they rebound to have a respectable season?
2. Big Step by Terry. The diminutive wide receiver from Barrington, Illinois Terrance Terry took a huge step from being a wideout who also played in the secondary in 2011 to the Coyotes second leading receiver in 2012 (53 catches). Terry also returned 9 kickoffs for an average of 13.7 yards.
3. A Starr is in Vermillion. Outside linebacker Tyler Starr stopped 7 ball carriers for a loss last fall. He led the team in quarterback hurries (4) and sacks (4); as well as, forced fumbles (2)
