South Range opened last season by dropping their first two contests (to Warren JFK and Campbell) before running off seven straight victories in a row. During that stretch, the Raiders outscored their opposition by an average of 42.7 to 16.6. With the league title on the line in the season finale, South Range came up short against Crestview.
With 7 starters returning on each side of the ball, Coach Dan Yeagley doesn't expect his team to take a step back. "We played a lot of kids last year. (It) gave them a taste of where they want to be this year. That really helped our off season lifting and conditioning programs because the players know what they want."
The Raiders will begin the season by traveling to Warren JFK on Saturday, rossAugust 31.

Offensive Strength: Junior quarterback Ryan Miller will be entrenched as the starter replacing Ross Stoffer, who graduated this past Spring. Miller connected on 46.3% of his passes (19-41) for 499 yards and 2 scores. Bill Goodall and Dave McCabe were two of the three ball carriers to run for over 400 yards in 2012. Goodall compiled an astonishing 11.8 yards per carry (44 attempts, 519 yards, 5 TDs) while leading all returnees with 5 catches for 85 stripes. Junior fullback McCabe also put together strong numbers as he carried the ball 59 times for 408 yards (6 TDs). We should see another solid season running the football for the Raiders. The team returns three starting linemen (Ryan Haynes, Zach Baird, Garrett Sorley).
Offensive Weakness: The big play ability and leadership of Jake Arsufi (461 rushing yards, 211 receiving yards), Ross Stoffer (882 passing yards, 280 rushing yards), and Robby Seman (36 catches, 828 yards) will be missed on offense.
Defensive Strength: Across the defensive line, South Range returns Jake Ruiz, Dave McCabe, and Joey Phillips. Through the first nine weeks, the defense allowed 19.9 points.
Defensive Weakness: Last year, the Raider defense allowed 222.2 yards of rushing per contest compared to 184.3 the year prior.
Storylines Facing the Raiders
1. Offensive Show, Again? In 2012, the Raiders finished with an average of 34.5 points per contest. That was the third highest total in school history since 2005. In 2007, the Raiders finished 2nd in the area with 37.7. Two years prior, they scored 35.8.
2. Odd Year Agenda. Despite the team's struggles in 2009 (2-8, 1-6), South Range has done exceptionally well in odd numbered years since the turn of the century (2001: 12-1, 7-0; 2003: 11-1, 7-0; 2005: 13-1, 7-0; 2007: 12-1, 7-0; 2009: 2-8, 1-6, 2011: 5-5, 4-3).
3. Goodall Around Player. As a junior, Goodall led the Raiders in rushing with 519 yards on 44 carries (11.8 ypc). Bill also caught 5 passes (85 yards), returned 13 kickoffs (223 yards) and fielded 7 punts (74 yards) and scored 6 total touchdowns.
