On November 16, Lakeview competed for the chance to play in their first championship tilt since 1986. The Sailors jumped out to a 15-0 lead over Sharpsville in the first quarter on two Blake Reddick touchdown scampers. However, Lakeview fumbled the ball away four times. As the story goes, unfortunately for fans in Stoneboro, the Blue Devils scored 23 of the game's final 29 points to advance to week thirteen with a 42-34 victory.
Even with such a devastating defeat, the Sailors accomplished more within the last four years than any other Lakeview team has in recent history. Over the course of the past four years, Lakeview has won 25 of 43 games and has finished with a winning record three times.
Coach Dan York says, "Our senior class is solid with some outstanding athletes". The senior class is led by 2,000-yard rusher Blake Reddick (2091 rushing yards) and third-year quarterback Zach Bigley (442 yards passing, 523 yards rushing).
The Sailors begin their trek towards the post-season with a match up at Union City on Friday, August 30.

Offensive Strength: The dynamic Blake Reddick has gained over 6-yards per carry in each of his first three years on the varsity squad. He has carried the ball 515 times for 3,574 yards and 28 touchdowns on the ground during his stay in the Lakeview backfield.
Offensive Weakness: The interior of the offensive line appears to be a spot of need entering camp.
Defensive Strength: Even with losing Nate Kokoski (93 tackles) and Dylan Taylor (53 tackles), the front seven should be a strength as the season approaches. Defensive lineman Sam Breese (101 tackles, 5.5 sacks) has led the Sailors in tackles each of the past two seasons. Linebackers Brandon Rice (75 tackles, 3 sacks) and Marquis Spence (72 tackles, 2 sacks) will be the leaders of the second line of defense.
Defensive Weakness: Lakeview's defense gave up an average of 36 points per game in their five losses. The Mariners will want to find suitable replacements for Brandon Persch (68 tackles, 6.0 sacks) and Andrew Parimuha (60 tackles), who played key roles on last year's team.
Storylines Facing the Sailors
1. Big Play Blake. Since sitting behind the likes of Alex Patterson and Jake Novak as a freshman, Reddick has been a wrecking ball for York's offense. Entering his senior season, he is definitely on everyone's Big 22 Watch List.
2. Bigley's Done it Before. On the Sailors, it's pretty easy to go unnoticed with Reddick around. However, Zach Bigley's work as the team's quarterback should be a story to keep a close eye on. The three-year starting signal caller has completed 42 of 125 for 772 stripes and 12 touchdowns over the last two years. In an offense which looks to run first, Bigley led the squad in yards-per-carry with an 11.4 average in 2012.
3. Offense & Defense Thrives. The Sailor offense has averaged over 22-points per game in each of the last seven years. The defense has been extremely stingy. They've permitted the opposition to score less than 20-points per game in five of the last seven seasons.
Did you know? Senior receiver Zach Van Dusen has caught 60% of the passes that Lakeview has thrown over the last two years. Van Dusen has accumulated career totals of 30 catches for 557 yards (18.6) and 8 scores.
