It was a busy Sunday for the Scrappers - with a happy ending.
Thanks to Saturday's rainstorm, the Scrappers and Jammers played 13 innings of baseball, completing one game before starting another. The completion of game one left Mahoning Valley with a six game losing streak as Jamestown won 8-0.
The Scrappers got off to a fast start in the nightcap, and cruised to a 9-4 victory in seven innings. A pair of sac flies from Jeremie Tice and Brock Simpson gave them a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Cord Phelps, making his pro debut, scored one of the runs, then drove home three runs with a double in the third inning to blow the game wide open. Phelps, the Indians third round draft pick, picked up hits in his first two at bats. Jeremie Tice went 2-3 with 2 RBI.
The Scrappers (16-23) hit the road on Monday for a six game road trip to State College and Jamestown.
