NFL-Bound

The valley's reputation as a pipeline to the NFL continues. Day two of the NFL draft sends three local products to the pros...further evidence that this area truly is a football hotbed.

Four valley natives are headed to the NFL.  Boardman's John Greco, Warren Harding's Mario Manningham, Austintown Fitch's Mike McGlynn, and Chaney's Keilen Dykes have all reached the professional football ranks.

The celebration is on in Boardman as former Spartans standout John Greco is the first local player drafted this year .. Greco was taken by the St. Louis Rams with the second pick in the third round, #65 overall .. Greco started 49 straight games on Toledo's offensive line .. And the Rams expect him to battle for a starting spot at right guard right away.

Shortly thereafter, former Warren Harding and Michigan star Mario Manningham's phone rang. And the call came from the defending Super Bowl Champion New York Giants. Manningham is selected in the third round, as the 95th overall selection. In his final season in a Wolverine uniform, Manningham hauled in 72 passes for more than eleven-hundred yards and 12 touchdowns.

Austintown's Mike McGlynn will also be playing on Sundays this Fall...and not too far from home. The Philadelphia Eagles trade up to pick the Pitt offensive lineman in the fourth round...109th overall. He appeared in 47 games for the Panthers, playing both Tackle and Guard during his time. And for the Former Fitch Falcon, it's a day he's been waiting a lifetime for.

In addition, former Chaney and West Virginia standout Keilen Dykes has signed a free agent contract with the Arizona Cardinals. The deal was wrapped up at the tail end of Sunday's draft festivities.
