CDC expands E. coli warning to all romaine lettuce

If you have store-bought romaine lettuce at home, it should be thrown away

COLUMBUS (WCMH) - The Centers for Disease Control is now warning people not to eat any romaine lettuce.

The warning was previously limited to chopped romaine and romaine in salad kits. It now includes whole heads and hearts of romaine.

The CDC warns customers to "not buy or eat romaine lettuce at a grocery store or restaurant unless you can confirm it is not from the Yuma, Arizona growing region."

If you have store-bought romaine lettuce at home, it should be thrown away -- even if some of it was eaten and no one got sick.

The CDC said product labels don't often identify growing regions, so you can't know for sure if the lettuce is affected.
