North Jackson's First Federated Church contributes to some of the Valley's less fortunate this evening. The church purchased a hog tonight at the 4-H auction from Amanda Smith. Members plan to donate it to the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley to feed the hungry this coming holiday season. The church is also helping the 4-H kids who raise the farm animals as a way to help defray the cost of college.
"THE MONEY THAT WE SELL GOES BACK TO THE JIM BAER SCHOLARSHIP FUND. IT GOES BACK TO THE 4-H KIDS WHO HAVE BEEN SHOWING FOR NUMEROUS YEARS, THEY HAVE TO APPLY FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP AND THE MONEY GOES TO HELP THEM."--Amanda Smith Hog Donor
The hog will be processed with the meat being donated to the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley.
