The future of Valley View Downs Racino in Lawrence County is in serious trouble.
Financial News Service Debtwire says the company building Valley View Downs is in talks to repay lenders early and cancel its casino plans.
Centaur is still negotiating to keep the project going but has been having trouble getting financing because it doesn't have a slots license.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board did not grant one during its most recent meeting in July.
Still Lawrence County Commissioners are hopeful they'll get their racino.
"This is an issue that rests with Centaur and creditors. Our role is very minimal but still very optimistic they can work out an arrangement and the process can move forward," Lawrence County Commissioner Dan Vogel said.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is scheduled to meet again in late August possibly to grant the slots license. That could change because of trouble with negotiations.
